Choosing beautiful, responsible packaging

Choosing beautiful, responsible packaging

I’m shining a little light on the quiet support act today, my sweet jewellery presentation boxes.

This is what your jewellery comes wrapped in, sturdy little boxes made with FSC certified board and with subtle gold embossing on the top and lined only with natural calico - no plastic, no foam.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification ensures that the wood, paper and other forest products that you're choosing are made with materials that support responsible forestry, and I'm happy to say that almost all of the packaging I use is certified in this way. And to avoid using wasteful plastic-based foam which is found in many similar boxes I buy these from my supplier unlined and I make the calico linings myself - I'm lucky to able to buy the calico locally from a small independent business.

I'm very conscious that, while some people like to keep the packaging that their jewellery comes in, others really do not, preferring to wear their jewellery all of the time, or store it in another way once they receive and start wearing. At the same time, there's no denying the joy to be had in a really great unboxing and reveal, whether you're presenting something special to a loved one or you've chosen it for yourself! And so I’ve been searching high and low for boxes which feel natural but luxurious for gifting and self-gifting, and which show off and protect your jewellery in a way that fits with my less-is-more ethos, and these hit all the right notes, I hope you love them too.
